We are about as confused as Atty. Harry Roque, who had already questioned the motive behind wanting to declare German national Marc Sueselbeck an "undesirable alien."
On Monday (October 27), the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that Sueselbeck, the fiancé of slain Pinay Jenny Laude, has been barred from leaving the country. He is now on the Bureau of Immigration’s watchlist because...they might want to deport him? Atty. Roque, the lead counsel for the Laude case, said that the government seems to be harassing Sueselbeck.
The German national issued an apology for his action in Camp Aguinaldo on Wednesday, where he climbed the perimeter fence and pushed a camp guard. He said that he was overcome by emotions after seeing Laude’s sister Marilou being pushed and hearing the officers laugh. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) accepted his apology, however, the Inquirer report stated that they are still determined to press charges.
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said that Sueselbeck cannot leave until his deportation proceedings are completed. She added, "He will likely opt for voluntary deportation. He may leave the Philippines ultimately, either way, but under our own terms."
