Mob gets a little hostile after smart phone super sale runs out of units to sell
A "gentle" reminder about the importance of fine print and proper disclaimers
ABS-CBN News reported about the "chaos" that ensued after a ZTE stall ran out of supplies for their super sale. On Tuesday, the brand’s Grand X2 L was offered at P1,999, way below the suggested retail price of P11,999.
The publicity for the sale indicated a limited time (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.), but reports say that they failed to indicate that the kiosks had limited quantities. Hundreds of bargain hunters refused to leave the premises despite the store managers announcing that they’ve run out of units to sell.
Later, the company clarified that each outlet was given 100 units for the promo. According to the ABS-CBN News report, around 200 people surrounded the stall, which was barricaded with steel bars. The Quezon City Police Department were called to help manage the crowd. Amateur videos showed people arguing angrily with the store managers.
