Marc Sueselbeck, the fiancé of murder victim Jenny Laude, has left the country. According to a report by ABS-CBN on Saturday, Sueselbeck’s flight left at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. The German national volunteered to be deported after the Bureau of Immigration (BI) banned him from leaving the country because of a pending deportation case. Sueselbeck is now on the BI’s blacklist.
Sueselbeck figured in the strange legal dispute after he scaled the perimeter fence in Camp Aguinaldo and shoved a soldier during a protest. He was quick to apologize to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, but the AFP was determined to file a petition to declare him an undesirable alien.
Before he left, Sueselbeck apologized for his behavior once more, saying "If any Philippine person felt disrespected with what I did, I first want to apologize to all Philippine people. I always respected you. I want to say sorry to you all."
Regarding Laude’s case, he added, "I wasn’t aware of the political issue that is behind us. I thought it was really about the brutal, unbelievable crime that has happened. It was about the person we all love. I wasn’t aware of the political part of it, and I’m apologizing. As someone who comes from outside, I probably should not have taken part in that."
Sueselbeck still intends to return to the country and will be submitting a petition for re-entry in the future, so he can visit Laude’s grave.
