Senate to probe alleged overpricing of Iloilo Convention Center
Senator Franklin Drilon will cooperate
The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported on Tuesday (November 4) that the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee will conduct an investigation regarding the purportedly overpriced Iloilo Convention Center.
Senator Teofisto Guingona III said that as soon as the preparations are complete, a probe will be conducted as part of Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago’s resolution from September. The resolution seeks an inquiry on Hilmarc's Construction Corporation and other government agencies that allegedly have anomalous transactions. Senator Santiago’s resolution also suggests probes for Iloilo City Hall and capitol building, Makati Police Station, Ospital ng Makati, Quezon City General Hospital, the Quezon City civic center, and the Valenzuela legislative building.
Meanwhile, Senator Franklin Drilon continued to deny involvement in the project and further said, "I have nothing to hide. Any inquiry or investigation will validate the facts and figures of this project, and will just show how absurd these vile allegations really are."
