Professionals (and very serious people) to Witness: "Please don’t cite Wikipedia"

Hey, some people work hard on those articles

It’s a handy tool, and in the hands of responsible and knowledge-loving users, it’s a good resource...but on Thursday, Wikipedia received little love on the Senate floor.

"Tatlong oras na tayong nag-me-meeting dito wala pa akong naririnig kung paano po ninakaw ang pera dito. Puro conclusion galing Wikipedia," an exasparated Senator Franklin Drilon said, frustrated but amused at Senator Nancy Binay’s line of questioning during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Hearing on the alleged overpricing of the Iloilo Convention Center.

Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez also criticized former Provincial Administrator Manuel Mejorada for citing the user-generated encyclopedia to prove his point, "Because this is a forum of professionals and very serious people, I would urge everyone, please, do not use Wikipedia as an argument."

Remember, as with any good research paper, Wikipedia has a list of references at the end of each article. It’ll pay off to check it and quote directly from sources less open to editing or defacement.
