Bongbong hits Mar Roxas, says DILG shouldn’t meddle with the NHA, NIA, and DPWH
Roxas is doing way too much said the senator
On Tuesday, the Philippine Star reported that Senator Bongbong Marcos has some concerns over DILG Secretary Mar Roxas’ "multiplicity." The report states that Senator Marcos feels like Secretary Roxas is overstepping his boundaries by a tiny fraction. This could be the cause of the P12.9 million "errata" in budget allocation.
While reading the agency’s budget, Senator Marcos asked the officials to explain where all the money went. Furthermore, Senator Marcos questioned Secretary Roxas’ authority to supervise infrastructure projects like irrigation and housing. In concurrence with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s opinion, Senator Marcos mused that certain functions should be left to the agencies tasked to perform them.
Senator Marcos also criticized the DILG’s P1 billion allocation for "local government performance management-based Challenge for LGUs." He said that local government units should perform their sworn duties well and they deserve no extra compensation for merely doing their job.
Despite this, the budget for the DILG was still approved.
