Holy Shoot: Pope Francis biopic in the works
Once upon a time, he was simply Jorge Bergoglio
The Philippine Star reported on Sunday that filming for a movie about Pope Francis has been scheduled next year, in his home country Argentina. Dario Grandinetti, an Argentine actor most famous for his part in Hable con ella, will play the role of the Pontifex Maximus.
The screenplay will be based on Elisabetta Pique's book, Pope Francis: Life and Revolution, and will be directed by Beda Docampo Feijoo (The Perfect Husband, The Loves of Kafka).
The biography written by Pique, published in 2013, has been hailed as the most complete portrait of him to-date, chronicling his days as Jorge Mario Bergoglio to becoming the leader of the Catholic Church.
