1. Palanca Awards revises rules after backlash

The Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards (CPMA) has revised its rules for the 2015 submission of entries after receiving flak from members of the literary community. According to CPMA director general Sylvia Quirino, Section 21 of the rules granting the CMPA "all moral rights" of the contestants’ current and previously winning work has been deleted. The deadline for submission is on April 30, 2015.


2. Bradley Cooper is single again

Actor Bradley Cooper and model Suki Waterhouse officially called it quits before January, but the announcement was only made Friday. The couple first started dating in March 2013.


3. Cebu Pacific flight returns to airport to unload actress due to "unruly behavior"

A Cebu Pacific Air flight bound for Mindanao returned to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Friday after it needed to unload actress Melissa Mendez for her alleged "unruly behavior." In an Instagram post by athlete and model Andrew Wolff, he said she refused to leave the reserved seats supposedly for him and his friend, then eventually "cursed" at his friend and threw punches at the latter and the flight attendants.



4. Willie Revillame will have a game show on GMA 7

Just when you thought you’ve seen the last of him, Willie Revillame has announced his return to GMA 7 titled "WowoWin." According to reports, the show will air every Sunday and will be directed by Randy Santiago.


5. Expect longer days, shorter nights after Saturday

The state weather bureau has said that you can expect longer days and shorter nights after the upcoming Vernal Equinox. The celestial event, set to happen at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, is an "imaginary location in the sky defined as a place where the ecliptic and the celestial equator meet."


6. Aquino allows Senate to have copy of Mamasapano texts

President Benigno Aquino III has allowed the Senate to have a copy of his text messages to former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Alan Purisima, Malacañang said Friday. The Palace said the President's decision is "in keeping with upholding the dignity of the office and maintaining the principle of separation of powers and respect for a co-equal branch of government."



7. Summer climb to Mt. Apo suspended

If you were planning to spend your summer conquering Mt. Apo, you’d have to wait a little longer. Joey Recemilla, chair of the ecotourism council and the city's tourism officer, said the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) has ordered the suspension of April treks to Mt. Apo because of the current dry spell. He added, however, that those who have earlier registered will still be allowed to climb the mountain but with tight restrictions.
