(SPOT.ph) The taboo on sex in the country has made—and is still making—conversations about the topic difficult to start. There’s shame, hesitation, and for others, fear, even when confiding to a professional about their sexual life and by extension, needs. Unprude, your new sex therapy application, was created to start your journey at your own pace, on your own terms, and with a bit of fun, at yes, an arm’s reach.

The app aims to “create a world where women can be sexually unashamed and embrace their sexual self on their own terms,” and proudly say, “I am unprude.” We tried our hands on the app and here's our firsthand experience.

Here’s what to expect and how to navigate the Unprude app:

Accessibility: Available on Play Store and soon on App Store
Navigation: Straighforward features, minimalist user interface, tabs
Features: Modules, conversation cards, meditative audio guides, podcasts and shortform videos, community-led conversations (soon)

As soon as you sign up, the app will start asking you questions that will allow you to tap into your sexual self and understand yourself better. Your answers will also help the application curate content that would best work for you and your current status in life. It will ask you how you feel about sex, issues, how the app would be of help, and your goals, among other insightful questions about sex. It even asks what you were told about and how you learned about sex growing up. This entry to the app had various and specific sets of answers; it took me quite some time just pondering about it.

After a while, the app tells you something about yourself (which the full description, as well as other features, can be unlocked with a subscription. Introductory prices for the app are P299/month and P1,999/year). Then, onto the main page.

Dr. Rica Cruz, a sex and relationships therapist, educator, and broadcaster and one of those who led the creation of the app, will warmly welcome you to the start of your sexual journey. Right off the bat, you’ll see the modules that the app thinks suit your personal profile, courtesy of the quiz you took beforehand. But the comprehensive Sex Ed—which contains reasons on why you’ll need one—module is free for all.

Under the module tabs, there are different shorts, exercises, and articles you can work on and read through—again, all on your own terms and at your own pace. If you’re not ready to explore sex yet, they also have resources that can help you go through abstinence.

There are short-form videos (because yes we have the attention span of a goldfish) on various sexual topics you may want to learn more about from their sex-ed resources or listen to conversations between fellow Unprude women and their stories on love, life, lust, and loss. There are even audio meditation guides you can utilize.

One of the struggles of talking about sex is how and where to start—the Unprude application has conversation cards for couples and even friends that will definitely strengthen and deepen your connection with one another.

Decks can contain thought-provoking questions from deal breakers in the relationship to “If I were to die tomorrow, who do I want to have sex with…” kind of stuff. There are digital games like the Couples Dice and Solo Classic Slot that can spice things up in the bedroom—and yes, that’s with or without a partner.

That being said, the app also has Unprude’s product line to take it up a notch. From lubricants (flavored and non-flavored), unassuming and minimalistic sex toys, to condoms, VCF or vaginal contraceptive films—and even a tote bag, that you’ll want to cop for a good sexy time.
