(SPOT.ph) So 2024 might have only started but preparations for the 2025 National and Local Elections are already on the horizon. That means another round of voter’s registration at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

According to COMELEC’s press statement, voter’s registration will start on February 12 to September 30. That’s almost seven months. Sounds to us like enough time for you to find that perfect date when you can perform your civic responsibility as a Filipino citizen.

To register, head over to the nearest Office of the Election Officer (OEO) in your area from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It should be open from Monday to Saturday, including holidays. However, the OEO will be closed during these three days of Holy Week: March 28, 29, and 30.

There will also be Register Anywhere Program (RAP) sites in all Philippine cities and towns, from malls to universities to government offices, until August 31. Through the program, a registrant will be allowed to file an application in the RAP site regardless of his or her place of residence and without the need to show up at the OEO. New registration, transfer of registration, correction of entries, and reactivation are accepted at RAP sites.

First-time voter? Don’t be intimidated by the process—it’s easier than you think. Here's a step-by-step guide for the upcoming voter's registration:

  • Visit COMELEC's iRehistro website
  • Choose "Application Forms"
  • Fill out the CEF-1 online form
  • Print the CEF-1 on a long bond paper back-to-back. Do not sign or affix your thumbmark on the application forms just yet since this must be done in the presence of the Election Officer
  • Bring the physical CEF-1 form and a valid government ID with signature on your visit to the local COMELEC office or RAP site

Remember: Accomplishing the online form does not automatically make you a registered voter. You still have to personally appear at your local COMELEC office or RAP site.

How to reactivate voter’s registration

Meanwhile, those who are looking to reactivate or transfer registrations can file an online application until September 7. It should be sent to the official email addresses of the OEOs which can also be found on the COMELEC’s website.
