Signal No. 2 Up in Batanes as Henry Weakens Into Typhoon

(UPDATE) Storm Henry (Hinnamnor) weakened into a typhoon on Friday as it remains almost stationary off Batanes, stirring rains over parts of Northern Luzon, PAGASA said. It's unlikely to hit land and is expected to creep towards the southern parts of Japan and Korea.

Henry, the eighth storm of 2022, was located at 365 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes at 10 a.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 165 kph and 205 kph gusts, the state weather bureau said.

It will bring moderate to heavy rains over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Abra, with light to moderate rains in Cagayan and the rest of Ilocos Region and Cordillera.

The storm is also likely to enhance the southwest monsoon or Habagat, which will bring rains over the western coast of Luzon starting Saturday before it exits the Philippines for Japan by Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

Signal no. 2 (62 kph- 88 kph winds) was raised over:

• Batanes

Signal no. 1 (less than 62 kph winds) was hoisted over:

• Babuyan Islands
• Northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana)
