The government should consider setting up express lanes to speed up the COVID-19 immunization program once it is widened to the fourth priority economic frontliners by June, the head of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Wednesday.
The express lanes will cater to members of the first, second and third priority groups who missed their chance to get vaccinated ahead of the fourth priority cluster, MMDA Chairman Benur Abalos said.
Medical frontliners are first priority, followed by senior citizens and persons with co-morbidities such as diabetes and hypertension.
"What we could do is have an express lane para 'yung mga naiiwan, let's say you are a senior citizen, person with comorbidities, then you open now the A4,” Abalos said in an interview on ANC.
Not all members of the first three priority groups have been vaccinated due to the limited supply of COVID-19 jabs, he said.

Metro Manila officials are pinning their hopes on the expected arrival of AstraZeneca vaccines that were ordered by LGUs, said Abalos, former mayor of Mandaluyong City.
"It is really the supply that's very much needed. It's a global supply problem," Abalos said.
