Britain's Prince Charles thanked Filipino medical workers in the UK for their contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, in the latest recognition for the Philippines' expatriate doctors and nurses.
The first in line to the British throne said Filipino frontliners provide outstanding care and comfort to their patients. His video remarks were released by the British Embassy in Manila.
"We are more fortunate than we perhaps realize to have many thousands of nurses and other healthcare workers from the Philippines working in the United Kingdom particularly in the National Health Service," he said.
"To these wonderfully selfless people, I wanted to offer my most heartfelt gratitude for the outstanding care and comfort you give to your patients."
Charles recorded the message in the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's 95th birthday and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the UK.
In 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Britain, journalist Piers Morgan also praised migrant Filipinos there for "saving people's lives."
Filipina nurse May Parsons administered the first ever COVID-19 vaccination in U.K. in December 2020.
