Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City is now Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue, named after the late king of Philippine cinema.
Republic Act No. 11608 renames the road, which runs between EDSA and Quezon Avenue, to Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue.
The measure was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Dec. 10, 2021, a copy of which was released by Malacañang only on Thursday.
Poe was called "Da King" for his long and successful career as an action star. In 2004, he ran for president of the Philippines but lost to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in an election hounded by cheating. He died just a few months later.
His daughter, Sen. Grace Poe, is on her second term at the Senate.
