Former senator Ramon Revilla, Sr., also known as "Hari ng Agimat" in Philippine show business, has died. He was 93.
"Wala na po ang tatay ko," Senator Bong Revilla, Jr. confirmed via a Facebook video on Friday.
Just yesterday, Bong gave a health update on the Revilla patriarch, who reportedly had been hospitalized due to difficulty in breathing. He wrote, "Daddy is going through a rough time. Please continue to pray for him."
Ramon was still able to celebrate Father's Day in his bedroom earlier this week.
Bong's colleagues offered their condolences to the bereaved family:
The older Revilla served the Customs Bureau as Sr. Intelligence Officer for seven years (1965-1972), before entering local showbiz. In 1992, he was elected senator and authored Republic Act 9255, which allowed illegitimate children to use the surname of their father.
