Wait, Trikes and Pedicabs Aren't Allowed on National Roads After All

The Palace retracted its statement and said tricycles, pedicabs, and vehicles with sidecars are still not allowed on national roads and highways.

“Regarding the issue on tricycles or those similarly situated, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año clarifies that although apprehension from the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) is temporarily suspended, such are still prohibited from traversing the national highways,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

In his June 4 online briefing, Roque said tricycles, pedicabs, and vehicles with sidecars would be allowed to pass on national highways in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ.

“Nagkaroon na po ng bagong polisiya, pinapayagan na po ang [sasakyan na may] sidecar sa national highways para maibsan ang kakulangan sa transportasyon ngayong GCQ at modified GCQ,” Roque earlier said.
