(SPOT.ph) Today, June 17, is Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto's birthday—besides everyone also being three months-deep into a community quarantine in Metro Manila. The birthday celebrant had a sobering reminder for anybody who had plans of throwing him a surprise celebration with roses, a cake, some singing, and maybe even illicit beer (a.k.a. a "mañanita"): Just don't.

Sotto took to Twitter with a message on his way to work, practically pleading for us fun-loving Pinoys to calm down with the hotdogs and marshmallows on a stick. "Buhay na buhay pa si Covid mga kaibigan!" As for a birthday present? Sotto also tweeted that he would appreciate it best if people donated groceries to those who need it most, instead. You can drop off your donated foodpacks to the Rescue Emergency Disaster Training Center or to the mayor's office, "kung ano mas convenient," added Sotto.
And it seems the mayor has every intention of spending his special day working. Earlier, it was reported that he had just signed the order dismissing six Traffic Parking Management Office enforcers due to bribery charges.
