Pinoys Hijacked Harvard's Facebook With the Funniest Comments
Harvard must be so confused.
(SPOT.ph) Most of us have been stuck at home for five months now, and photographs of places we used to visit make us all nostalgic for better days. But Filipinos—with their natural talent for an offbeat kind of humor—have taken things further by trolling Facebook posts by Harvard University in Massachusetts (in a fun and witty way, don't worry!). It all started when the Ivy League university put up an album "Quiet Campus" with the caption "Amid the coronavirus outbreak, Harvard's campus is unusually quiet." Photos include empty corridors, park benches without the crowd, and students enjoying the silence.
Filipinos were quick to hijack the comments section in every post by sharing their make-believe school memories eating maruya on the school grounds, a fantastic stream of consciousness about a long-lost dormmate who was taken by Avatar's Fire Nation, or urban legends that usually spread in local schools. Posts were in Tagalog, Sebwano, and all the other Philippine languages so you can just imagine the confusion among actual Harvard students. Reshares are reaching tens of thousands and don't even get us started on the number of comments. "Harvard" also trended on Twitter in the last 24 hours as a lot of people with a lot of time in their hands made it seem that they went there.
