(SPOT.ph) Oh yes, national trashtalkan night is finally back. We mean, the much-awaited UAAP Cheerdance Competition which went down on Sunday, May 22, at the Mall of Asia Arena. A total of eight universities battled for the top of the podium, with the Far Eastern University Cheering Squad taking home the win—ending a 13 year drought for their school. And while we're definitely cheering for their insane Queen rock n' roll performance, we can't deny it's the Twittersphere where things got really rocking.
The cheerdance competition was a little different this year, with absolutely zero thanks to the still ongoing pandemic. Performers were limited to 15 per group with a total of three minutes each, and no drummers either. Sure, things felt incredibly different but the schools still brought their A-game. The Far Eastern University (FEU) squad bumped off the National University PEP squad from their three-year claim on the title, followed by the Adamson PEP Squad, and last but not least, the National University (NU) PEP Squad settled for second runner up.
There were quite a few unexpected, erm, happenings throughout the competition. And yes, all the burns were online. Well, at least the ones we saw along with all the other non-blessed ones who weren't able to watch live and on the ground. If you're feeling a little left out, or just want to enjoy some first-class call-outs, we round them up below.
