(SPOT.ph) Motorists traveling to the provinces for the holidays can pass through South Luzon Expressway and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway free of charge as San Miguel Corp. brings back its annual toll holiday for Christmas and New Year.
San Miguel's infrastructure arm SMC Infra would once again waive all fees at all its tollways for the Christmas and New Year holidays, including SLEX, TPLEX, Southern Tagalog Arterial Road, the Skyway System, and NAIA Expressway, SMC president Ramon Ang said on Wednesday, December 21.
The toll holiday will begin at 10 p.m of December 24 until 6 a.m. of December 25 for Christmas Day, and at 10 p.m. of December 31 until 6 a.m. of January 1 for New Year's Day.

Plan your trips ahead, SMC says
As the holiday traffic is expected to peak this week, motorists are advised to plan their trips ahead to avoid delays and get to their destinations safely.
“Traffic buildup and congestion at our expressways, ports, and airports is something we all expect at this time of the year, especially as restrictions have fully eased. We appeal to our motorists for their patience and understanding as we anticipate heavy traffic,” Ang said.
To ensure smooth travel for motorists, SMC Infra deployed additional traffic management personnel at all its tollways, including ambulant tellers to help manage the flow of vehicles at toll plazas.
Motorists are also reminded to keep their Autosweep ETC cards ready in their vehicles to avoid delays at toll plazas on days that are not covered by the toll holiday, Ang said.
“What would be a big help is if we all plan our trips well ahead, and leave earlier to allot more time for travel, especially if you are catching a flight or scheduled bus trips," he said.
"For motorists, we also suggest to please make sure your vehicles are in good condition, and that your electronic toll collection accounts are topped up, to prevent any delays to you and others,” he added.
