Be at the Airport Four Hours Before International Flights This Holy Week, MIAA Says

(SPOT.ph) Travelers will have to wait in airports a little longer than usual this Holy Week, said the Manila International Airport Authority on March 21.

International passengers are instructed to arrive at least three to four hours before their scheduled flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, while domestic passengers should arrive two hours before.

NAIA issues timely reminder for the Holy Week

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is expecting 20,000 additional daily passengers in the Holy Week, a figure that is likely to spill over for the rest of the summer season.

“The earlier, the better para hindi po tayo nagmamadali sa ating mga iba’t ibang proseso katulad ng check-in, pagdaan sa final security or going through immigration kung papunta po kayo sa international flights,” MIAA Senior Assistant General Manager Bryan Co said in a Laging Handa briefing earlier today. “Importante po na kumpleto ang ating mga dokumentong dala dala.”

He suggested going through online check-in beforehand so passports and boarding passes will be the only thing you'll have to show at the counter—and no, you won’t need to bring your diploma with you.

The sudden influx of travelers moving through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) isn’t the only thing to worry about. Co is reminding passengers to take into account external factors like road traffic, too.

“Consider the traffic conditions when you’re going to the airport,” Co said. “Alam po natin na iba’t ibang araw, iba’t ibang oras, iba’t ibang traffic conditions within Metro Manila.”

Now more than ever, travelers are encouraged to pay travel tax online via Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority’s website to skip the lines.

Other ways to speed up the airport wait time is to fill out the eTravel online form before and during the flight. Accomplishing the form will yield a QR code that travelers will be asked to present upon arrival at the airport.
