White, Yellow, and...Coupon? Here's Your Guide to Various Taxis at NAIA

(SPOT.ph) Navigating transportation options at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) can be a perplexing experience. With no jeepney, UV express, or bus in sight, travelers are left to hail taxis. 

The many choices, from white to yellow and sedans to vans, can overwhelm passengers. It doesn't help that some taxi drivers suffer from a bad rap for charging exorbitant fees beyond the prescribed LTFRB-approved rates, which is why picking the right service becomes more crucial. Being cost-efficient is only the tip of the iceberg. After all, the cheapest is not necessarily the safest. 

No matter which taxi you go with, you will receive a dispatch slip. Don't lose it or hand it over to the driver—this is because agency hotlines are available at the dispatch slip in case of concerns or complaints about the ride.

Here are the different NAIA taxis:

Regular/White Metered Taxi

Regular/white metered taxis are the most common ones we see on the road. They are the most affordable option as they are LTFRB-approved rather than MIAA-accredited. This means extra caution is advised for dealing with this taxi service as they will not be held accountable to the airport.

Regular/white metered taxis have a base fare of P45, with an additional P13.5 for every succeeding kilometer and an additional P2 for every minute of travel time.

Do note that the 20% discount for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and students is not applicable for regular metered taxis.

Yellow Metered taxi

Yellow metered taxis are more expensive than the regular ones since they are MIAA-accredited, allowing them to operate to and from the airport. In exchange for the higher fare, passengers can expect a shorter line and a more reliable ride with this service.

Yellow metered taxis have a base fare of P75, with an additional P4 for every succeeding 300 meters and an additional P4 for every two minutes of travel time. A 20% discount for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and students is applicable.

Coupon Taxi

Coupon taxis are MIAA-accredited services that have a fixed fare to your destination. That's right—no taxi meters here, which means no overcharging.

For example, it will cost P330 to P440 to get to Makati City, P610 to P940 in Quezon City, P330 to P610 to Las Piñas City, P440 to P740 to Muntinlupa City, P150 to P440 in Pasay City, and P740 to P990 to Caloocan City.
