GUIDE: Train Hours in Metro Manila for Holy Week 2024

Plan your commute accordingly.

(SPOT.ph) Heads up, commuters! Metro Manila’s train lines will be adjusting operating hours in light of Holy Week.

Expect slight changes in LRT-1, LRT-2, MRT-3 and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) schedules starting from Maundy Thursday on March 28 through Easter Sunday on March 31 as they conduct annual maintenance services during the long break. 

Make sure to keep these schedules in mind if you want to make it on the last train home.

Train operating hours for Holy Week 2024

LRT-1

The LRT-1 will temporarily halt services between Baclaran Station and Fernando Poe Jr. Station and back from March 27 until March 31. Aside from the preventive maintenance, it will also take the time to test the signaling system for the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project.

“The first day of the no-operations period will be dedicated to the train movement simulation from LRT-1 Cavite Extension stations to the existing LRT-1 Gil Puyat Station. For the remaining days, our Engineering Team will conduct the essential maintenance activities to allow us to improve capacity and performance across the line, enabling us to serve our LRT-1 passengers with better, more reliable transport system,” LRMC Chief Operating Officer Rolando J. Paulino III said in a statement.

Usual train hours will be in place on March 25 and March 26, with the final trains setting off at 10:00 p.m. from the Baclaran Station and at 10:15 p.m. from the LRT-1 Fernando Poe Jr. Station.

Normal operations for LRT-1 are set to resume on April 1 at its usual start time of 4:30 a.m.

LRT-2

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will temporarily cease LRT-2 operations for Holy Week from March 28 to March 31 to facilitate its annual maintenance.

Reduced operating hours will be in place on March 27, with the first trip at 5:00 a.m. and the last trip at 7:00 p.m. for both Recto Station and Antipolo Station. There will be no rides from March 28 to March 31.

LRT-2 will resume its normal operations on April 1.

MRT-3

The MRT-3 is set to conduct its annual maintenance work during Holy Week. As such, there will be no rides from March 28 to March 31.

Services will run as usual on March 27, with the final trains departing at 9:30 p.m. from North Avenue Station and at 10:09 p.m. from Taft Avenue Station.

Normal service will recommence on April 1, with the first trains leaving at 4:30 a.m. from North Avenue Station and at 5:05 a.m. from Taft Avenue Station.

PNR

Bus services from Alabang to Tutuban and vice versa will be available on March 28, 30, and 31, with buses departing every hour to accommodate the lack of trips from the PNR during the Holy Week.

The first bus will leave at 5:30 a.m. from Alabang and 7:00 a.m. from Tutuban, while the last bus will leave at 7:00 p.m. from Alabang and 9:00 p.m. from Tutuban.

Do note that bus services will be suspended on March 29 in observance of Good Friday. Operations will resume on March 31, with the hourly interval between bus departures on these routes lessened to every 30 minutes starting April 1.
