NLEX Facebook Live Cam Tells You Real-Time Traffic Situation

(SPOT.ph) Headed back to Manila after spending the Holy Week up north? You might want to check out the NLEX live cam to help you plan your drive.

The NLEX Corporation, operator of the expressway notorious for gridlocks during long weekends and holidays, offers a livestream on its Facebook page to help motorists plan their trip.

Which areas of NLEX are shown in the live feed?

The feed covers six sections of the 84-km highway: the Balintawak Toll Plaza; Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela; Mindanao Toll Plaza; Libtong in Meycauayan, Bulacan; Bocaue Toll Plaza; and the San Fernando Interchange.

The page also responds to motorists who would like traffic updates from their routes, while drivers already on the road also share reports on their experience, including accidents they see along their route.

NLEX also gives regular traffic updates on its official X page.

As of Saturday morning, there was light to moderate traffic along NLEX. Heavier traffic may be expected on Easter Sunday when motorists are expected to head back to Metro Manila in droves.

Do SMC Tollways provide live updates? 

For those coming from the south, SMC Tollways has the next best thing to a live video feed: a traffic web page that regularly updates. The SMC Tollways website tracks the network of roadways it operates. 

These include the South Luzon Expressway from Greenfield to Alabang; STAR Tollways from Balagtas to Sto. Tomas; Skyway from Alabang to Buendia; Skyway Stage 3 from Buendia to the NLEX exit; and NAIAX from Skyway to its exits at the airport terminals, Macapagal Blvd., Entertainment City, and Cavitex. 

A separate tab also shows updates on the traffic situation on TPLEX (Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway), a favorite route to Baguio City. The page covers the stretch from the Tarlac Central Toll Plaza to Rosario, Pangasinan.  

The page showed all green (light traffic) on the SMC roadways as of Saturday morning.
