(SPOT.ph) The daily grind for commuters just got a little easier with the launch of two new stations—Philam and Kamuning—on the EDSA Carousel. This brings the total number of pick-up and drop-off points to 23 stops all running along the main thoroughfare.
The Philam station features an LED digital clock, while the Kamuning station has a newly constructed footbridge for easier transfer to the MRT-3 GMA-Kamuning Station.
Accessibility is a key focus in the Philam station. The station equipped with ramps and elevators to ensure that persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and pregnant women have better access.
Existing stations like Guadalupe, Santolan, Balintawak, Bagong Barrio, Monumento, Ayala, Buendia, Kaingin, Nepa Q-Mart, Quezon Avenue, Roosevelt, Roxas Boulevard, and Tramo have also been enhanced with new footbridges, PWD ramps, and elevators.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the EDSA Carousel is now also monitored by a smart traffic surveillance system. This system includes 166 CCTV cameras, with 21 featuring artificial intelligence technologies, to monitor bus operations and violations.
