No More Cash Lanes at CAVITEX Starting September 14

(SPOT.ph) If you’ve been procrastinating on getting that RFID sticker, now’s the time to act. Motorists using the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX) will have to fully transition to RFID payments as cash lanes will be officially removed starting September 14.

This change will be implemented at all toll gates along CAVITEX, including those at Parañaque and Kawit. 

Got no RFID? No problem—yet. You still have a few days to get one at the CAVITEX Customer Service Centers or EasyTrip tents located along the expressway.

Do note that stricter enforcement kicks in by October 1 as announced by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) last August. Motorists without a properly functioning RFID are set to face fines, with penalties ranging from P1,000 for a first offense to P5,000 for subsequent offenses.

Where to get RFID sticker or load in CAVITEX

RFID stickers can be purchased and reloaded at multiple locations along CAVITEX and C5 Link:

• CAVITEX Customer Service Centers (Cavite and Manila bound)
• EasyTrip Tents at Kawit and Longos (Manila bound)
• Merville EasyTrip Tents (CAVITEX C5 Link, East and Westbound entries)

The initial push for contactless transactions was driven by the Department of Transportation's (DOTr) Department Order No. 2020-12 as a measure to combat the transmission of COVID-19 during the pandemic. It has since evolved into a strategy for enhancing traffic flow on expressways.

It gained momentum this time last year when the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) carried out a contactless payment collection for a two-month dry run in September 2023. During that time, motorists with no RFID sticker were still allowed to pay in cash in RFID lanes without penalty.
