MY WORLD: Pam Pastor
Take a peek into this young writer’s world.
Welcome to My World, a new SPOT.ph section that gives us a voyeuristic peek into the personal spaces of interesting pseudo-celebrities and urban cool personalities. For SPOT.ph's first My World feature we invade writer-editor-baker and one-time-band-member Pam Pastor's space.
Growing up, Pam went through a list of ambitions. "I wanted to be an astronaut, a doctor, a forensic pathologist, a lawyer, a labandera, a dishwasher-but one dream stuck-to be a writer." At 17, she began writing for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, where she now holds post as the subsection editor of Super!, the daily's Saturday special on pop culture, entertainment, and style. "I grew up completely in love with books," she said. "I couldn’t stop reading and soon, I couldn’t stop writing."
Early this year, the 30-year-old launched her first book, Paper Cuts, a collection of stories from her crazy life. Whether it's reading her work in Super!, following her blog about her current obsession, or listening to her sing with her once-upon-a-time indie band, Mozzie, the first-time book author has managed to conjure up a following-with fans eventually turning into her friends. And that's what Pam Pastor fanatics love--aside from her talent in writing, her far-out stories about anything and everything prove that she's just as real as any of us.
When she's not busy writing, Pam also runs a small cupcake business with friends called Sugar Rush Lab. Oh, did we mention she has a nail polish addiction with over 500 bottles?
