(SPOT.ph) Last week, we got a surprising invite from Margarita Fores in our inbox. Global affairs magazine Monocle was going to be in Manila. Monocle’s editorial team, led by Editor-in-Chief and rockstar journalist Tyler Brule, is on a three-city tour that also includes Jakarta and Taipei. The object of the tour? "To meet readers, listeners, collaborators, and clients," the invite read.
The party was held at the Univers store in One Rockwell East Tower, with Margarita Fores providing the cocktails and canapes. Only a hundred invites were given out, we heard, with guests requested to "bring a friend, a partner, or a good story tip." It started at 7:30 p.m. with Brule at the door welcoming guests, which included lifestyle magazine editors, fashion industry VIPs, culinary personalities, models, and society page mainstays. Two power outages occured, thanks to the thunderstorms but was thankfully handled immediately. "Print remains the future of journalism," he says to the eager crowd. "This is social media," he ends his short speech with a toast. Click on the photo to see what happened at the party.
