Reese Fernandez-Ruiz of Rags2Riches is on Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneurs
From rags to enriching lives. Go, girl!
(SPOT.ph) She was on our list of Women Behind the Brands and now, she’s moving on to something with just a wee bit more prestige. Therese "Reese" Fernandez-Ruiz, cofounder of Rags2Riches, is beaming with happiness on the 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneurs List by Forbes magazine.
Already a Rolex Young Laureate, the young entrepreneur continues to advocate a pro-profit and empowering business with what was once just an offshoot of a college program. Forbes reports that the company had an annual growth rate of 100% for their first five years.
Rags2Riches started as a vision of a better life for women in Payatas, who used to earn as little as P1 for the rugs they made from scrap fabric. Ruiz challenged the minsan meron, minsan wala system and her business model now serves as an inspiration for other companies.
The lesson? You don’t need to be ruthless to succeed.
