Heart disease that clogs or narrows the arteries is the number one cause of death of Filipinos in the first four months of 2022, the Philippine Statistics Authority said Tuesday, underscoring how fatty diets take a toll on the human body.
Ischemic heart disease accounts for 18.7% of deaths that were registered with the PSA from January to April 2022. It was followed by cerebrovascular diseases that restrict blood flow to the brain and neoplasms, or growths that can be benign or cancerous.
