Unvaccinated individuals are banned from entering malls in the city of Manila, Mayor Isko Moreno said Sunday, following reports of local cases of the more transmissible Omicron coronavirus variant.
Those who will enter malls in the city must present their vaccination cards before they are allowed inside, he said. He did not say whether authorities would make a distinction between fully and partially vaccinated persons.
"In the case of city of Manila, bawal pumasok ang mga taong hindi bakunado sa malls. Bata o matanda, kung 'di kayo bakunado, hindi kayo puwede sa malls," Moreno said in a Facebook Live.
Moreno said the ban on unvaccinated people would also be implemented in public transport.
"Bawal nang pumasok sa mall nang hindi bakunado ganundin sa ating mga pampublikong sasakyan, at 'yan po'y antabayanan ninyo, bukas na bukas ia-announce 'yan ni Chairman [Benhur] Abalos ng MMDA dahil isa 'yan sa napagkasunduan naming mga mayor a few hours ago," he said on Sunday.
The city also brought back curfew for minors from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Moreno said.
He also suspended limited face-to-face classes, from early education to secondary levels, while Alert Level 3 is in effect in Metro Manila. Alert Level 3 is in place until Jan. 15, 2022.

"Cancelled na po ang lahat ng face-to-face classes from early education to primary and secondary [level]. Online pa rin tayo, babalik tayo sa online," he said.
He also urged unvaccinated Manileños to get the jab, citing a spike in the city's active COVID-19 cases.
"Ang malaking volume ng impeksyon ngayon ay mga bata lalo pa't hindi bakunado. Malaking porsyento ng 18 years old pataas na naimpeksyon ay hindi bakunado. So importante pong maliwanag sa ating lahat 'yung ating pinapasok na desisyon sa buhay."
