This NLEX Project Cuts Travel Time From Valenzuela to Caloocan to 5 Minutes

It's a six-lane elevated expressway that's part of the NLEX Harbor Link project.

The North Luzon Expressway Harbor Link project takes another step towards completion. Segment 10—which will essentially cut travel time from Valenzuela City to C3 in Caloocan City from one hour to just five minutes—is scheduled to open on February 26, and the final inspection and dry run were held on February 20.

"The [North Luzon Expressway] NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 will be a traffic game-changer since this will drastically cut travel time from Port Area to NLEX," said Department of Public Works and Highways secretary Mark Villar. "Once [this elevated expressway is] opened, around 30,000 vehicles daily will be diverted away from busy roads in Metro Manila."

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) website, Segment 10 is a 5.58-kilometer, six-lane elevated expressway connecting McArthur Highway in Valenzuela and C-3, and will "utilize the existing PNR railroad tracks that cut across Valenzuela City and Malabon City." Apart from decongesting Metro Manila and reducing travel time to and from the two aforementioned cities, the project also aims to improve the movement of cargo between NLEX and Radial Road 10.

Other benefits of Segment 10's completion include an increase in land value around the area and the more employment opportunities, said NLEX Corporation president Luigi Bautista.
