Manila Water Has Finally Released a Water-Interruption Schedule

(SPOT.ph) When you have to go to work and brave Metro Manila's smog-filled air every day, especially in the summer heat, the last thing you want is to have dry taps at home. Unfortunately, Manila Water just began implementing its El Niño Water Supply Contingency plan, leaving several households across Metro Manila and Rizal with little to no water supply until the drought is over.

The initial advisory released March 4 advised residents in certain areas to store enough water for their needs, but did not provide a clear schedule of expected water interruptions. After sparking a public outcry, the company finally started releasing more details on the service interruptions for each barangay. 

Here's the updated schedule as of 8 p.m. of March 11:

According to Manila Water, the service interruptions are meant to help keep the water level of La Mesa Dam from declining too rapidly, but details behind this remain unclear.

"The level of water in Angat [Dam] is still high. 96% of our water is coming from Angat. We still believe that the water from Angat is enough to provide water for Metro Manila," Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Administrator Reynaldo Velasco was quoted in a report by CNN Philippines. According to him, Manila's main source of domestic water should be Angat Dam. La Mesa Dam serves as a secondary source.
