Heads Up, Motorists: New Skyway Alabang-Zapote Northbound Ramp Hours to Start February 1
It will only be open for four hours on weekday mornings.
(SPOT.ph) Construction on the Skyway extension is now in full swing along the South Luzon Expressway—which means motorists will have to wait for things to get a little bit worse before they finally get better. Here's one adjustment you may want to take note of: The Skyway Alabang-Zapote northbound ramp will only be open to traffic from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on weekdays starting February 1.
The area will be closed off to traffic for the rest of the week to make way for construction works. At these times, motorists heading north can instead take the Filinvest entry to get on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX). Vehicles can turn right to Filinvest Avenue, left to Parkway Street, then exit at the Filinvest Toll Plaza to get on the expressway. You can also get on the Skyway through the ramp access before Sucat area.
Skyway management does expect some congestion thanks to the new traffic scheme, but is positive traffic will ease once adjustments have been made. "We understand that this is an inconvenience for many of our motorists, and we’d like to again ask for your patience and support. We monitor traffic 24/7 and we assure you we will do all we can to make traffic manageable,” said Ramon Ang, president of San Miguel Corporation, in a statement.
The Skyway extension project is due to be completed in December 2020 and will be a "long-term solution to the traffic situation in the south," added Ang. Here's hoping motorists can stay sane until then!
