St. Luke's Medical Center Opens Free Grocery Store for Their Frontliners

So that they don't have to line up at the supermarket.

(SPOT.ph) In the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, health workers all over the world are risking their lives to man the front lines. Most of them are on their longest shift ever, choosing to stay in the hospital rather than go home to prevent transmitting the virus to their families. As a way to appreciate their valiant efforts, St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City opened St. Luke's Care Store today, April 3 at 6 a.m. All items are free for the hospital's frontliners.

This project by the St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) is a makeshift grocery store that's been set up at the hospital's Henry Sy, Sr. Auditorium so that their frontliners don't have to spare extra hours of what could be their rest time just to line up at the supermarket. "Our frontliners can choose from the array of food and other essentials they can use or share with their loved ones," SLMC said in a statement. Items available at St. Luke's Care Store include bottles of orange juice, canned goods, fresh fruits, bread, and more.
