So you live in Cavite and work in Makati City. No worries. Employees will be allowed to travel for work-related reasons between modified enhanced community quarantine and general community quarantine areas, the Palace said on Thursday, May 14.
This comes after Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced that most areas in the country are set to shift to a general community quarantine (GCQ) starting May 16 until May 31. During this same time, Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu City will be placed under a modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Some residents from GCQ areas work in MECQ areas, and vice versa. Roque said workers who need to travel to a different community quarantine area could pass through checkpoints after presenting an employee ID and another ID that specifies their place of residence.
Roque stressed these employees must work in industries that are allowed to operate under MECQ and GCQ. "'Yong mga allowed po mag trabaho sa iba't-ibang quarantine areas, they will be allowed provided that they are working in an industry that is allowed to operate," Roque said in a press briefing.
Non-essential travel is still prohibited. Those who need to travel for reasons not related to work must secure a clearance from the local government unit. "Hindi pa po natin pinapayagan iyang non-essential travels," Roque reiterated.
