Heads Up: The Medical City Will Be Offering Drive-Thru Swab Testing Starting Tomorrow
The RT-PCR swab test has been described as the "gold standard" for COVID-19.
(SPOT.ph) We know it's a lot of words. The reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction is better known as the RT-PCR swab type of testing for COVID-19—and even better known as the "gold standard" for confirming whether or not you have the disease. In case you ever need it, the The Medical City - Ortigas in Pasig City will be adding this type of test to their drive thru services starting Friday, August 14.
Here's what you need to know:
Where: The COVID Testing site is located at the Basement 1 Exit along MD Camacho Road
When: Mondays to Sundays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Contact: 8988-1000 ext. 3300 (strictly by appointment only)
According to their website, the RT-PCR swab test will cost P6,000 and results will be sent through email within two to three days. Also, make sure your car will carry a maximum of six individuals to be tested.
This is the second type of COVID-19 test they offer. The Medical City (TMC) first launched an antibody test drive-thru service on July 7. The RT-PCR test differs in that it will require a mucus sample—via those dreaded swabs—that will then be sent through specialized lab machinery to determine whether it contains the virus. The antibody tests use a blood sample. To put it simply, if the antibodies needed to fight the pathogen are present, then that must mean you have the virus.
