Playing This Game Is Like Leafing Through an Illustrated Storybook
From the same folks behind the equally stunning Monument Valley.
(SPOT.ph) If the months of staying put at home has made you tinker all sorts of things at home, here's a game that will give you even more things to fix during your spare time: Assemble With Care. This fresh take on puzzle games comes from ustwo Games, the makers of the popular Monument Valley series also known for its award-winning visuals.
Assemble With Care has garnered positive feedback after being released in 2019 on Apple Arcade, Apple's premium gaming subscription service. After a few months, it became available on Steam, slowly gained traction among indie game lovers, and received thousands more positive reviews.
All About Assemble With Care
The game's story revolves around Maria, an antique restorer who is enjoying her trip to the fictional Spanish town of Bellariva. During her stay, she decides to take a few repair jobs for funding. Little did she know that fixing her customers' stuff will also get their lives fixed.
The game has 13 levels, which you can ideally finish in a couple hours of gameplay. But as with fixing broken stuff in real life, it's best to go through this game at a slow yet sure pace. There is a tutorial at the beginning of the game for you to be familiar with the basics. As you go along, the game feels like you're leafing through an interactive storybook. Each chapter starts with a cutscene complete with text, narration, and gorgeous illustrations before proceeding to the item up for repair.
You will be helping Maria fix a different item in each level—a cassette player, rotary phone, music box, and handheld video game console are just a few examples. You need to tap the tools and rotate the item to start your repair. Depending on the item, you might need to take apart an old device with a screwdriver, remove and replace batteries, or even apply glue to put together broken components. It might sound boring on paper, but you'll understand what the hype is all about when you see the game's visuals, trust us.
In each item that you put together, you will learn more about its significance, owner, purpose, and where it's been. And once you've repaired it, you'll fully unlock the story behind the item and the owner. Its stunning visuals make you appreciate art even more, while its immersive storytelling makes you realize the small ways you hope would make a difference in real life.
While Assemble With Care sounds like it would be a great game to play with pals, it does not support multiplayer for now.
