(SPOT.ph) The community pantry movement started out as a bamboo cart filled with free food for Patricia Non's neighbors along Maginhawa Street in April. Working on the idea of socialism, it aims to equitably distribute resources to every citizen through the mantra: "Magbigay ayon sa kakayahan, kumuha batay sa pangangailangan." It allows everyone, whatever social class, to contribute to and benefit from the collective. Eight months later, the spirit of the movement still exists; and Non calls on Filipinos to jumpstart the community pantries and kitchens in Visayas and Mindanao, which were badly hit by typhoon Odette on December 16.
"Target po natin makapagbigay ng hot meals sa evacuation centers ng affected areas," Non said in a post.
