(SPOT.ph) Despite challenges in censorship, politics, and readership, Filipino literature continues to flourish as emerging writers create new works, independent publishing companies stake their claim in the landscape, and local readers consume more books written by Filipino authors. And if you're hoping to recognize your favorite Filipino books, the Filipino Readers’ Choice Awards returns after a seven-year hiatus. You can even be part of it, as the public nomination is now open until August 24.

How to nominate your favorite book for the Filipino Readers' Choice Awards:
The Filipino Readers' Choice Awards is an online popular choice award previously conducted from 2012 to 2015. It was established by independent volunteers and is now facilitated by the Book Development Association of the Philippines. Books are awarded according to the following categories: Fiction, Graphic Novels, Nonfiction, Romance, Humor, and Young Adult. For 2022, new genres are added: History and Translated Work.
To address the long hiatus, readers can nominate Philippine-published books released from 2015 to 2021. You may also want to check if your book choices have already been nominated during the publishers’ nominations held from July 29 to August 5. Right now, there are already 46 submissions with over 1,300 titles. These will eventually be collated and awarded in two batches for Filipino Readers’ Choice Awards 2022: one for titles published from 2015 to 2018 and another set for titles published from 2019 to 2021. After the nomination period, voting forms will be released on September 3.
Public nominations for the Filipino Readers’ Choice Awards run from August 10 to 24. To nominate your favorite Philippine-published book released from 2015 to 2021, fill out the form on Mailchimp. For more information, follow Filipino Readers’ Choice Awards on Facebook.
