(SPOT.ph) Whether it be for a journey to Bulacan or a trip to Fairview, citizens of the North know that a commute through the extensive Commonwealth Avenue is never guaranteed as smooth sailing. As the Lord of the Rings character Boromir might say, "one does not simply commute through Commonwealth."
Many macro-solutions have been offered to smoothen traffic flow on the highway north of Quezon City Memorial Circle; from the MRT-7 to jeepney regulations. However, this week, we have the quick and straightforward, Quezon City launch of the MMDA's Libreng Sakay program, which will be providing free bus rides to commuters along Commonwealth Avenue.

Here's what we know about the Libreng Sakay bus routes and schedule on Commonwealth Avenue:
Through the Libreng Sakay program, seven buses and two trucks will be plying through Commonwealth Avenue, giving free rides to commuters from 6 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday every week.
The buses will depart from Litex on Batasan Road which is headed south towards Welcome Rotonda on Quezon Avenue, and vice versa on the return trip north.
Recognized for providing free bus rides along EDSA, the Libreng Sakay program has its launch in Quezon City at a time when the volume of traffic during rush hours in Metro Manila looks to be on the rise, with the return of face-to-face classes and the reimplementation of number coding hours.
Meanwhile, the Q City Bus Service operations continue to remain in effect, with free bus rides being provided in the other major roads of Quezon City, including Quezon Ave., Kalayaan Ave, and Visayas Ave.
