WooHoo, The Sims 4 Will be Free for All Players Next Month

(SPOT.ph) Adulting can be tough, especially in this new reality we live in. Oftentimes, simply going through life feels as if we’re swimming in a pool wherein our creator has removed the only ladder (if you know, you know). It’s no wonder that the carefree activities of gaming and binging movies or series have become a couple of the only reliable mediums of escape these past couple of years, so naturally, we’d jump at the opportunity to partake in these pastimes without having to shell out our hard-earned cash.

As luck would have it, The Sims 4 will officially become a free-to-play game starting October 18, so no need to go looking for an IRL "motherlode" infinite money cheat. The endlessly addicting life-simulation game has been the culprit behind whole generations of casual gamers spending long hours over many moons creating their perfect house and perfect family. Turns out, playing hard to achieve your fictional dreams within a video game is just as rewarding as working hard to achieve your dreams in real life.

The Sims 4 Will be Free Starting October 18

Developer EA has announced that The Sims 4 will be free beginning Tuesday, October 18. The game will become free on all devices and systems that it's currently available on; PC and Mac via Origin, the EA app, Steam, PlayStation’s 5 and 4, and Xbox’s Series X|S and One.

It should be noted that only the base game is free, while additional content such as expansion packs and the various themed kits are separate purchases that retain their original prices.

Speaking of expansion packs, players on either EA Play or EA Play Pro subscriptions will receive exclusive bundles of The Sims 4, once the game becomes free-to-play. Both get The Sims 4 "Get To Work" Expansion Pack, while Pro members get The Sims 4 "Toddler Stuff" Pack. You'll need an EA account to get a subscription, which costs approximately P370/month for EA Play and P1,150/month for EA Play Pro.

If you purchase The Sims 4 for its original price between now and when it becomes free, you'll also receive the Desert Luxe Kit as a gift of gratitude from the developers.

Even with all those expansion packs currently available, even more additional content for the game is on the way and will be announced at the "Behind The Sims Summit" at 1 a.m. on October 19, through The Sims Youtube and Twitch channels. Definitely a "woohoo" moment for us—wait, no, not that kind.
