Today in Random: Diglett Has a New, Uh, Phallic Beach Bod in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

(SPOT.ph) Welcome to the world of Pokémon, where not only has Lechon become a strange obsession, but where the notoriously covered-up Ground-type Pokémon Diglett has—let's just say—an elongated cousin who loves to chill on beaches. Hey, it's a grower and a shower, and there's nothing wrong with that.

The Pokémon Company unveiled their newest Pokémon Wiglett at their Pokémon World Ecological Society presentation on September 28. The new Pokémon was featured in the video documenting Pokémon found in natural habitats located in the Paldea region, the main setting for the next games in the series, Scarlet and Violet, which drops in November.

Here's what we know about Wiglett from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:

In the presentation, Wiglett is observed to be similar in appearance to the Generation 1 Pokémon Diglett. Yet, it's supposedly its own species, instead of being a regional variant of Diglett.

Diglett was one of the original 151 Pokémon to debut in the original Pokémon Red and Green. The Ground-type Pokémon is well-known among fans due to the mystery surrounding what the rest of its body looks like, given that only its "head" appears above ground. Diglett's first regional variant was introduced in the Alola setting of Pokémon Sun and Moon in 2016. Alolan Diglett had blonde hair sprouting from its head and was a Ground- and Steel-type Pokémon.

Diglett is labeled as a "Mole Type" Pokémon in Pokédex entries throughout the series, while Wiglett's form and posture do resemble more of the real-life garden eel. No other details have been shared about Wiglett, other than that it primarily lives on beaches. We could see the lil' guy being a Ground- and Water-type Pokémon. This would oddly also give it a type advantage over the original Diglett, which just feels all sorts of wrong, but we'll allow it.

Fans of the series have already taken to social media to share renditions of Wiglett dancing, picking fights with Diglett, and even as the worm from Dune. Say what you will about the Internet, but it never fails to be quick with it.
