Poblacion Girl Pleads Guilty, Gets P20,000 Fine for Skipping Quarantine

A woman who went viral earlier this year for partying in Makati's hip Poblacion district while on quarantine has pleaded guilty to the offense and was fined P20,000, ABS-CBN News reported Monday.

Gwyneth Anne Chua, who was tagged on social media as "Poblacion Girl left her hotel on day two of her quarantine in December and later tested positive for COVID-19. Her close contacts at the bar also caught the virus, though it was not established whether they got it from Chua.

Chua apologized for the "hassle" when she appeared before the Makati City Metropolitan Trial Court, according to Makati Assistant City Prosecutor Rafael Rodrigo Esguerra as reported by ABS-CBN News' Mike Navallo.

Security guard Esteban Gatbonton, who allegedly helped Chua breach quarantine, earlier pleaded not guilty.

She was charged for violating the RA 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Concern Act of 2018, which penalizes violaters with a fine of P20,000 to P50,000, or imprisonment of one to six months, or both.
