#JusticeForKillua: Man Confesses to Killing Golden Retriever
He said he saved an elderly person from being bitten.
(SPOT.ph) The man linked to Killua’s death, Anthony Solares, has confessed to killing the Golden Retriever in Camarines Sur, an act he said was done to protect an elderly person.
“Ginawa ko lang ‘yung nararapat,” Solares said in a News5 interview.
As for the CCTV footage of him hitting Killua in the middle of the road, Solares said Killua had already bitten twice—it is unclear who the other victim is—when he decided to chase after him.
“Muntikan pa nga asawa na nagtitinda lang doon sa amin,” Solares said. “Talagang wala na sa sarili ‘yung aso. Wala na. Lahat ng nakasulubong niya, parang gusto niya pang kagatin kaya wala na ko ibang naisipan…baka maka-ano pa ng ibang tao.”
He said he used a piece of wood and a rock to hit, and eventually kill, Killua.
There are also rumors floating around on social media that Solares meant to cook Killua, hence her being put into a sack. Solares was quick to deny this as he had no idea who placed Killua there.
“Ganito po ‘yun. Tinabi ko muna [siya] sa tindahan ko noong patay na, tapos umuwi muna ako, nag-CR ako. Pag balik ko, naka-sako na,” Solares said, adding that he kept hold of Killua’s body in the sack waiting for the owner to claim him.

What gave rise to #JusticeForKillua?
The tragic story of Killua has sparked widespread outrage and sorrow in recent days. His owner Vina Rachelle discovered the lifeless body of Killua inside a sack, an event that she mourned publicly on March 17 through a Facebook post alongside throwback pictures and videos of her beloved pet.
The exact circumstances of Killua's death were not detailed in her post, but there are also several videos showing a confrontation with Solares, who claimed he killed Killua in retaliation for being bitten on the leg. Further evidence of the brutality faced by the dog was shared by Vina through CCTV footage outside her home, capturing a man attacking Killua on the street.
Vina reiterated to News5 that Killua was not an aggressive dog.
"Mabait po ‘yun…kasi nga po alaga namin yun dito sa bahay. Natutulog pa nga ‘yun sa tabi ko. Makakapag-attest din po yung mga kaibigan ko, ‘yung mga pumupunta dito sa bahay na mabait po na aso si Killua," Vina said.
In her pursuit of justice, Vina has sought the cooperation of law enforcement with the help of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to fight for Killua's cause, rallying behind the hashtag #JusticeForKillua.
