Happening Now: Make Your Own Havaianas at Rockwell Tent

Get creative with your flip-flops

(SPOT.ph) It was a night of creativity, celebrity, and a mix of both at the opening of this year’s Make Your Own Havaianas. Yesterday, April 30, Rockwell Tent was transformed into a land of whimsy with slipper-shaped cupcakes, striped accents, and, at the center of the affair, a 20-foot "hot-air" balloon made entirely of flip-flops. With over 10 colors, straps, and pins to choose from, MYOH 2013 represents the mecca of carefree, summer style.

Can you guess how many flip-flops were used for this balloon?

A special space-inspired design by Filipino illustrator Dan Matunina was also launched during the opening night. The first Filipino collaboration with the international flipflop brand featured space men and a glow-in-the-dark, connect-the-constellation pattern which Matunina said represents the exploration and imagination-a perfect fit for this year’s "Imagination" theme. The pair comes in a standard carbon blue but you may choose you’re preferred strap.

The eight-year strong event, which has gained a hefty star following through the years was attended Michelle Madrigal, IC Mendoza, Callum David, Laureen Uy, Jenni Epperson, Maxene Magalona, Megan and Lauren Young, Kat Alano, and Bianca Valerio. "It" bloggers Patricia Prieto, Camille Co, and Alyssa Lapid were also present.
MYOH (Manila) will be held from May 2 to 5, 10 a.m. onwards at the Rockwell Tent, Makati City. Prices range from P895 to P995 (plus P100 per pin).
