New Local Brand We Love: Happy Skin Cosmetics

Makeup that’s good for your skin? It’s enough to get us glowing.

( Think of it as a marriage of two things you love, like chips and chocolate, pancakes and bacon, first dates and good hair days: you wish you could keep them together forever. In this case, it's healthy skin and good makeup. The belief that one doesn't have to go without the other is what inspired Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez, formerly brand manager to one of the country's most popular skincare brands, to create Happy Skin with Rissa Mananquil-Trillo.

"I think good makeup should be easy to use, good for your skin, and [make] you feel more beautiful," says Gutierrez. She especially wanted to get first-time makeup users to feel a little less apprehensive about trying the products. "We don't want to intimidate," she shares. So Happy Skin products were formulated with nourishing ingredients like cherry blossom leaf extract, shea butter, hyaluronic acid, and Japanese tea leaf extract, and then labeled with fun, uncomplicated names like Get Cheeky With Me (blush), Shut Up & Kiss Me (lip color), and Don't Get Mad Get Even (foundation).
