Target announces collaboration with Lilly Pulitzer
Expect a bright, sunny, cheerful collection perfect for summer
(SPOT.ph) Target announced on Tuesday, January 6, that they are teaming up with American socialite and fashion designer Lilly Pulitzer, who is known for her bright, Palm Beach-inspired, and eye-catching floral prints. The collection will be available online and in stores on April 19, though the mega-retail brand’s decision to keep plus sizes available only online has already drawn some flak around the Internet.
The history of Lilly Pulitzer’s brand dates all the way back to 1959. She and her husband opened up a juice bar, and the socialite began designing her signature shift dresses as the uniform because the bright, colorful prints would hide the juice stains. Eventually her dresses outshone the juices, and that’s how the Lilly Pulitzer Resort Wear line began.
The 250-piece collection will carry apparel, accessories, shoes, home decor, beach gear, and more. The sunny collection is a huge contrast to Target’s previous collaboration with luxury women’s clothing designer, Altuzarra, which was a flashy, sexy, 50-piece collection launched in September 2014.
