Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna + others will design for Fendi to benefit charity
This is not your typical celebrity-label collaboration.
(SPOT.ph) Italian luxury label Fendi is teaming up with five New Yorkers: actress Sarah Jessica Parker, singer Rihanna, model Jourdan Dunn, actress/stand-up comedian Rachel Feinstein, and fashion blogger Leandra Medine. They are to design their own classic 3Baguette handbags together with Fendi’s atelier Venturini Fendi to aid them throughout the process of bringing their designs to life.
This isn’t a typical celebrity-label collaboration, however-it’s also for charity. From February 13 to March 13, the handbags designed by the five women will be auctioned at Fendi’s new flagship store in Madison Avenue, as well as online through Fendi’s official website. The proceeds will go to different charitable organizations chosen by the women themselves.
Sarah Jessica Parker picked The Brain Trauma Foundation to receive the proceeds of her handbag. They aim to "improve TBI (traumatic brain injury) patient outcomes worldwide by developing best practice guidelines, conducting clinical research, and educating medical professionals and consumers."
Rihanna chose The Clara Lionel Foundation to receive the proceeds. They aim to "improve the quality of life for communities globally in the areas of health, education, arts, and culture."
Jourdan Dunn has chosen The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America to receive the proceeds of her handbag, as she has firsthand seen the effects of this disease on her son.
Rachel Feinstein picked the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center to receive the proceeds of her handbag as support for their ongoing efforts for "innumerable diabetes initiatives including support for research fellowships."
Leandra Medina chose the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund to receive the proceeds of her handbag. They happen to be the oldest and largest charity to fund ovarian cancer research.
