New Anti-aging Facial Involves Snails
The snail facial is a thing in Thailand
(SPOT.ph) The snail facial is a new beauty craze in Thailand that involves real snails leaving trails of slime as they slither around your face.
Chiang Mai’s Snail Spa in Thailand was founded in 2014 by Luc Champeyroux. Snail facial sessions last for 45 minutes, and involves placing six snails on one’s face. The snail secretion consists of protein, antioxidants, antibacterial agents, and collagen-rich hyaluronic acids, which are expected to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines while taking care of acne, scars, burns and stretchmarks. It isn’t the first time snail slime is being used in beauty products, however. It dates all the way back to ancient Greece, when they used it to cure skin diseases.
Don’t worry about the molluscs, though. They are well taken care of, and are fed chemical-free carrots, cabbage, and aloe on a certified organic farm-all 30,000 of them.
